Temazcal

About

In Mesoamerica, since ancient times, the temazcal, "steam bath", has played an important role in social and religious life. The temazcalli (from the Nahuatl: tema, "steam", and calli, "house") can be defined as a "steam bath house". In the Mayan area it was known as zumpulcheé, although it is currently known as chuj. The temazcal represents the interior of the Earth and is a place of transit between the world of the living and the underworld. It is conceived as the entrance to the "beyond". You will be able to meditate and connect with your own self in a wonderful place where at the same time, if you wish, you will be able to heal, like our ancestors, any ailment of the body and soul. First a ceremony is done, the xaman will ask permission from mother earth and the 4 cardinal points with their respective elements and deities to perform the temazcal and have their protection, then the xaman will clean us with herbs and incense to prepare us in body and soul to introduce us to the sacred place.

It is the most awaited moment, we will enter the temazcal, each one will sit around the sacred navel where the ancestral grandparents are received (the hot volcanic stones) and will begin with this beautiful and purifying experience directed by the xaman, it begins with meditation and then with the steam bath, where you will be able to release your physical, psychological and sentimental burdens, you will listen to harmonious songs and requests for healing for you and for the universe and at the end you will feel a wonderful moment of peace, tranquility and much love for yourself and for others in harmony with nature, you will experience spiritual rebirth in the womb of mother earth. This beautiful experience lasts 1:30 hrs. approx between the preparation and the end of the steam bath, but continues with a bath of warm water with aromas of medicinal plants to clean and close the pores of the skin, then we will have the opportunity to swim in the fresh and crystalline waters of a cenote and To end the time to recover energy with food, it will be something light such as fruit, salad and local fruit water
